Esther Weekes

Esther Weekes is both a flamenco dancer and flamenco fusion singer songwriter. London born to Caribbean parents, she has been living in Spain for the last 22 years. Having trained as a flamenco dancer in Amor de Dios (Madrid), Mario Maya’s Flamenco school (Granada) and with a wide variety of flamenco figures in Seville, Esther has danced professionally all around Spain and Europe.

As a blues and jazz singer she has performed in Blues and jazz festivals throughout Spain and the UK. With her love of flamenco dance and ability to sing, she has created a unique bridge extending from the world of jazz into flamenco territory and with her groups, Yacara (2010), Jazzolea (2012-2016), Crossroads Flamenco Blues (2016 - 2017) and Esther Weekes Jazz Flamenco Quartet (2023) she has made considerable inroads into the Jazz Flamenco world.

Esther is the first non-traditional flamenco artist to perform regularly in Seville’s Museo del Baile Flamenco and Seville’s Bienal de Flamenco (2010/2012). She has performed in flamenco fusion festivals and Jazz festivals throughout Spain, Belgium and the UK such as Jerez Sherry Festival, Madrid’s Flamenco y Mestizos, Jazz Festival of Ceuta, Birmingham Jazz Festival….

In 2018 Esther co-produced her first theatre flamenco production, “Sin Hijos” which was performed in Seville’s Palacio de los Marqueses de la Algaba. In 2023 she released her first single “Triana Blues” from her flamenco fusion album “Lucky Eye” which she composed and produced together with Tino van der Sman. Esther is currently, working on a flamenco fusion musical.
