Melani Soraya Vazquez studied ballet, modern, tap, and jazz before pursuing flamenco. She fell in love with flamenco over 25 years ago and has studied with most of the teachers in the Los Angeles area. Her master teachers for the last 25 years are the fabulous Paco and Yolanda Arroyo. Outside of Paco and Yolanda Arroyo, Melani Soraya has studied in Seville, Spain, at the Cristina Heeren Foundation, as well as submerging herself in flamenco classes and workshops at the annual Jerez Festival in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

She has performed in various restaurants, festivals, and stage performances in southern California. After years of experience on stage, at private parties, and at outdoor events, she decided to share her knowledge by opening and starting the first flamenco and Spanish dance school in Burbank, CA. Her school is called En Compas Flamenco. Her students are as young as three years and as seasoned as mature seniors. The spring of 2024 will mark her 9th year, with an annual performance showcasing her students and their achievements in dance.

In the summer of 2023, Melani Soraya completed her Master's in Flamenco from ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya). When she is not dancing, performing, choreographing, or teaching flamenco, Melani Soraya enjoys teaching her middle school students the Spanish language at Burbank Unified and sharing with women her knowledge of skincare and color cosmetics as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.
